VolumeAce® is a quick and easy real-time solution for calculation
of volumes for stockpiles, borrow pits etc. The system is
based on the highly successful MDL LaserAce® 300 instrument,
which is linked to a PDA running the VolumeAce software package.
Data is collected on the Pocket device and is immediately
displayed graphically for verification. Lines and points are
used to describe the 3 dimensional shape of the model, which
are formed into a triangulation mesh and contoured at user
defined different intervals. Once the boundary of the object
is completed a volume can be calculated giving cut and fill
values to a datum or another surface.
The software runs on a range of Windows CE™ and, Pocket PC™
devices and the data can be viewed in a number of windows
and exported as ASCII and DXF Software
Station Data: Control stations can be created manually, by
traverse or resection.
Observations: The observations are held in spreadsheet type
format and can be edited using standard spreadsheet tools
for replacing and updating fields.
Plan: The plan view of the model can be highlighted with
contours, triangles, annotation etc. and can be viewed at
different scales by zooming and panning dynamically.
Section: A section can be "cut" through the model at any
time to verify the model.
The VolumeAce® is based upon MDL's LaserAce®
300 technology.
VolumeAce® is a simple but powerful software package for
measuring stockpiles in the field. Running on a variety of
Pocket Computers, the software links to the full range of
MDL instruments including the LaserAce® 300, LaserAce®
Total Station and QuarryMan®.
The surveyed points are graphically displayed are linked
together in a model and each stockpile is defined within a
unique boundary. Full graphics, contours, sections etc. makes
this a superb package for field verification and calculations
without the need for separate PC software.
